Thanks for all the input so far!

A lot of planning goes into a trip like this.

Most of our camping will be in state parks or KOAs, but a night or two under the stars just seems amazing to me and a great experience for the kids.

There are campsites that you can do under the stars with modern conveniences. We did KOA in Montana that yes, we saw the milky way in all its glory. We are doing Mesa Verde full hook up in their state park. I saw the pics. From the pics I can't believe a full hook up and the sites are under the stars. And yes, I can't wait to leave. 60 days and counting.

One of the best apps to use is ALLSTAYS for locating BLM camping

I have never camped in the area you are going.
It will if you have a Micro Air soft start installed. I run my 15K on 1 2000 watt Yamaha inverter generator.

See link on # 13 post above.

I am willing to guess that any 2000 watt generator will not run the A/C over 4500 feet soft start or not. The thinner air will not give you the horse power that you get at lower elevations. One EU2000i would run the A/C at home in the driveway at 4200 feet, but when we get higher it would not run the A/C. Also the the single Honda was running as hard as it could. I do not like running any gas motor wide open for very long. Just my experance and my neighbor with his EU2000I.

GladeCreekWy knows how to boondock! We have yet to meet, but if we do happen to be... I like the places you find! and some of the places you have been to are places where we have been... and are awesome
