Buck Hall Recreation Area, SC

We recently spent a week at Buck Hall CG and we had a wonderful time. I small national CG with only 14 RV sites, large sites, with water an electric.
The CG is located on the Intracoastal Waterway 30 miles north of Charleston SC.
We are heading back there next month for a long weekend.

You can checkout my YouTube video of the campground.

Found this CG a few years ago while planning a stop over visiting Charleston on our way south. Nothing there if you are not fishing as that is the main draw for the CG. Would recommend it as a place to stay while you visit the area and site see in Charleston about a 45 min drive south. Was not pleased with the CG host who played pretty much brain dead about site availability when we stopped without reservations despite the fact that only 2 of the 14 sites were occupied. He finally directed us to one of the open sites but told us we might have to move the next day if someone made an online reservation. Said his computer was down and couldn't check or block out a site for our 3 day stay. In the end we were there for 3 nites without issue.

Wife loved the Charleston area and we could have stayed another couple of days with lots to see and visit.

I would recommend this CG only if you are visiting Charleston. Be aware when fishing / crabbing etc seasons are in full force as the CG and launch ramp will be over ran. No open season when we were there so never more than half of the sites filled.

OR you could:
1) Take a hike on the Palmetto Trail which has a trailhead at the CG.
2) Ride your bikes through the Francis Marion National Forest.
3) Paddle your canoe or kayak through the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, 65,000 acres of marsh, tidal creeks
4) Relax next to the Intracoastal Waterway and watch the big boats pass by.
5) Visit Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum in Mt Pleasant and tour the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier, USS Laffey Destroyer, and the USS Clamagore Submarine.
6) Take the ferry over to Bull Island and go birding, hiking, beach combing.

Other than that... not too much to do at Buck Hall CG.
