Campground Research - April in NY

I am planning a trip south next spring (our first big trip); however, the timing is making finding an overnight in mid to lower NY state along highway 81 during the last week in April . The State Parks don't open until May 5th (Chenango Valley State Park which would have been about 5-5.5 hours from home). I was looking at the Marathon, NY area and found 2 campgrounds - Lighthouse Landing (4 stars on 4 reviews on Campground Reviews) and Country Hills Campground (8 stars on 39 reviews). I didn't see much else (using RV Trip Wizard) through Binghamton.

Does anyone have experience with either of these campgrounds, or know of any others within that area?

I always stay at Lakeside Campground in Windsor NY when I am visiting the Binghamton area. I am unsure however if they open as early as April. We have been going there for years.

2 little things to consider. First, if you are coming in off of 81, it is literally 5 miles back a dirt road. The road is smooth and very wide. But, things will get dirty. Second, there is absolutely no cell phone service once you leave 81. The campground has great WiFi though.
