Campgrounds by route

This may sound like an unusual request but is there anything available that I can put in a beginning and end destination and not only will it map a route but also show camp grounds along the way.

Example We live in Michigan one of our Grandson's live in New Mexico. We would like to take our Fiver out, camp along the way.

A good RV GPS will do that. Our Rand McNally does. We start making our reservations for the night at about noon of the same day with that tool.

Our Garmin 770 GPS can do this as well.

Please explain how you do this. I don't think our Garmin 760 RV has this capability.

In the 770 you can do it the following way:
Planning a Trip

A trip can include many destinations, and it must include at least a starting location and one destination. The starting location is the location from which you plan to start your trip. If you start navigating the trip from a different location, the device gives you the option to route to your starting location first. For a round trip, the starting location and final destination can be the same.

  1. Select Apps > Trip Planner > New Trip.
  2. Select Select Start Location.
  3. Choose a location for your starting point, and select Select.
  4. Select Select Destination.
  5. Choose a location for a destination, and select Select.
  6. Select Add Location to add more locations (optional).
  7. After you have added all the necessary locations, select Next > Save.
  8. Enter a name, and select Done.
Here is the link to the page on Garmin (https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webh...4042D1EF5.html).

When you Add Location you get several options. Select the option "TruckDown RV Camping Parks." This will give you RV parks within about 90 miles of your current location.

Hope this helps.

The Garmin RV 660 LMT also supports this. When adding a location there are a number of options including RV Parks or RV Services. If you select Categories then you get a much longer list that includes gas stations, Camps & RV Parks, Rest Areas, Restaurants, Attractions, Medical Care, etc. Drilling down into these options reveals even more detailed lists to select from.

Although we do most of our planning using Garmin's Basecamp software and then transfer the pre-planned trips to the GPS, using the Trip planner to find things along the way on short notice works great. This is one of the big reasons we went with the Garmin RV-specific unit.

WOW! I thought I'd been through the 760 manual from top to bottom.. We, as noted, have been using the GSC Trip Planner and entering our stops into the Garmin.

Thank you very much for your post here, you're a great member. [emoji3]
