The State campgrounds are generally nice.

I like the beach sites in Southern California. Want to dry camp with the beach at your feet? Ventura's Rincon parkway is nice. They have other campgrounds in the area.

That is a pretty big state. Where, in particular, are you looking to camp?

All of these are easy to get into, even with short notice, have pull through sites, and most have amenities including heated pool (some heated all year round), jacuzzi, pickleball court(s), etc. Many Elks we stay at serve lunch, dinner, and drinks.
