Camping at/near the Poconos

Greetings fellow JOF folks.... Quick question for you all. Has anyone ever, or, know someone who has, camped at or near The Poconos in Pennsylvania? Was maybe considering a trip out there, and just wondering how it is. Thanks in advance. Happy Camping!!

Talk about timing... A few friends of ours convinced us to try Otter Lake campground this past weekend. We decided to go and head on up, check things out, and pretty much enjoy our last trip of the season. To make a long story short, I woke up Sunday morning, walked over to the main office and signed the contract for a season of winter camping (1 Nov - 1 Apr). They even gave me credit for the weekend. It's a gorgeous campground. I believe they have about 60 or so winter campers up there.

Lots of snowmobiles, skiing is 15 - 20 minutes away, indoor pool, and more. No water for obvious reasons but there's a bath house somewhere nearby no matter where you are and they are kept clean.

I grew up in the Poconos in Milford PA. It's right were NY, NJ and PA all come together. What a great place. Summers were nice but I sure did love the winters the best. Great memories and the fall season just can't be beat with the colors. Enjoy!

We went to Otter Lake in early Oct. Very nice. Plan on going back during the summer. Driftstone on the Delaware is also nice. Been going there every summer for the past 20 years. A 7 day stay will get you a site on the river.
