Camping in Utah

Any recommendations for campsites in Utah? Planning an early October trip.

Dead Horse Point State Park is beautiful in its own right and is close to Canyonlands. The park has some RV sites with electricity, but does not have any water for RV's; you must come with a full tank and haul any extra water in.

What part of Utah are you looking at? It's a big place.

We were thinking of Great Salt Lake and then moving on to Zion and / or Bryce. Would be coming through Nevada I think to get there (Elko?) Actually...coming from California first since that's where we live. All the Utah information is overwhelming. No idea where to even start since we've never been!

If you are in the Bryce Canyon area, I would highly recommend Kodachrome Basin State Park for a place to set up camp. Beautiful, unique scenery, and close to a few slot canyons. It's south of Cannonville off of Cottonwood Canyon Rd.
It's been several years since I was out that way, but I think it's about 45 minutes south and east of Bryce Canyon by way of Hwy. 12.

Slot canyons in that area. If memory serves, the first one is Willis Creek slot, and the second is Bull Valley gorge.

As well as Grosvenor arch

And of course, Bryce Canyon

Thanks SO much! I just looked it up on your recommendation and it sounds terrific. I at least have a starting point and a plan developing now! Great photos, too!

Your places are a bit limited at Zion and especially Bryce. You may want to check out www.campgroundreviews.com. Good advice there.
