Colorado Camping

My DW and I tried once again to catch the aspens in full color and once again we were about 1 week early. Still have had a great time in Manitou Spring exploring the country in all directions. We spent 7 days at Pikes Peak RV Park and as read in reviews, it is tight to get your rig in and out. However, the staff is great helping you get set up and extremely helpful. We also found the other Rv’rs staying in the park to be very friendly, but isn’t this always the case no matter where you go?

We did take a ride out to Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Oh my gosh, so very nice. We had tried to get a spot there but they were booked up solid. The staff told us to be sure you got a spot you needed to start booking 6 months out. I think it would be worth the planning, and seemed to be a destination all by itself.

Headed back to the heat of Texas tomorrow, but if you are coming to the “Springs” area and can plan that far ahead, check out Cheyenne Mountain. I bet you will be pleased.

Safe travels.

Thanks for the heads up about Cheyenne Mountain. Tried to book that a few years ago and it was 100% full. Now I will go out 6 months in advance to get a site.

Happy RVing,
Jeff

We stayed at Cheyenne Mountain when we went a couple years ago. GREAT CG. The timing of our trip wasn't "Peak", so we were able to get in with only about a 2-3 month lead time IIRC. They were about to close parts of the park down for winter when we were there.

We toured Manitou Springs, Pikes Peak, CO Springs a little, Garden of the Gods, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something or another.

Anyway, we had a GREAT time, and Cheyenne Mountain SP was a GREAT place for us to stay. If/when we go back, it will be my first choice.
