Colorado River Campgrounds
Going on a Southwest tour and will be coming from Joshua Tree. We want to stay any where below Lake Havasu. Any recommendations for a full service campground on the Colorado river. Would love to stay by the river or at least be able to see it from the campground.
Thanks!

Have spent many nights camping on the Colorado River. Above and below Lake Havasu. Below the lake. Get a river front spot at Echo Lodge Resort.
The better option is above the lake. River front spot at Pirate Cover Resort.
Keep in mind. It is very hot in the summary. Great if you have or rent a boat.

Thank you, great information and I will look up both campgrounds. We will be traveling in late April early May so hope that it won't be too hot. Plan to rent a pontoon boat for a day as we have the dog with us.

We just came through that area. There are several parks that looked nice just south of the Parker dam on the river.
If in Havasu, avoid Crazy Horse campground, we stayed one night and really have nothing good to say other than it is right on the water.

Keep in mind also that you and several hundred thousand other RVers want to be there and many spaces were rented 6-12 months in advance. Depending upon the time you want it half of a California might be there also. Move now or be left out if you have not already been. An it does get 110 plus there during summer.

That time of year can go either way. But also factor in wind and spring is that time of year.
We have stayed at Pirate Cove in the past but to be next to the river you need to have made reservations well in advance. They do have a reservations Web page. I just did a quick search of their site for availability for several different weeks in April and May and there was nothing.

We stayed at Emerald Cove Resort in Earp, CA for a couple of weeks in January 2023 https://www.coloradoriveradventures....mping-resorts/ across the bridge from Parker, AZ over looking the Colorado River. Lots of other rv parks clos by on th CA and AZ side. Emerald Cove Resort has 2 swimming pools, 2 jacuzzis, resturaunt, bar.

Yeppers. I was just making a point to the OP that it can get hot.
The OP needs to be prepared for both mild and hot.

😁 I use that phrase because in England and talking with a local about the weather I mentioned it had been foggy and raining. To which she said “Well, this is England, you know”.

Look up Davis Camp, just north of Bullhead City.

And that is why we decided to wait until next year. We and the dog don't do well in high heat.

Yea, but for us West Coasters I thought late April might be early enough. Wrong again, must be my age.

Try Buckskin Mountain State Park and River Island State Park. The Parker Strip is a great place to camp- we're there for 3 months every Winter
Some private RV resorts kick us out on April 1st
