Cooperstown

We're planning a trip from Texas to Maine probably across Canada to Thunder Bay then back to Texas. One stop I'm considering is Cooperstown for the HoF. Any camping suggestions? I'm thinking it will be a two night stop. Perhaps a state park within an hour? Looking for suggestions.

There is a fairly decent KOA about 20 minutes outside of Cooperstown in Ridgefield Springs, NY. It's perfect for a couple of day layover. We will be there this May. My son's recreational league team has been chosen to play on the field at the HOF.

BTW the HOF is an amazing place if you've never been there.

Thank you
The HoF is our main reason for stopping. I'm very involved with a baseball message board so it's a long overdue trip. We've used trips to the northeast for literary research purposes in the past, this time it's a more open agenda.

Plan a full day for the HOF - there is so much history there. Take your time and absorb it all.

Now as a baseball guy I have to ask your thoughts; Pete Rose? In or no??

No.

My logic is what company or industry would honor someone who disgraced their company? Plus a couple decades of lying doesn't help.

My compromise is having a display listing his accomplishments and controversy but without admission. Same for Joe Jackson and a couple others.

I hope you enjoy your time at the HOF. I am a big baseball guy...coached for many years...and have never had the opportunity to attend. I am hoping to camp up that way in a year or so upon retirement.

Agree not letting Pete Rose in...although all the guys with excellent stats not in due to PEDs or betting or whatever, should be mentioned...just no bust or paraphernalia. I do think Shoeless Joe, however, is the exception. He should be admitted because there was never any proof he was knowledgeable of the guys on his team throwing the games. His stats were incredible that Series.

I'm an admin for a White Sox message board. I'm also a high school golf coach in a district that centers athletics around servant leadership and character building. So for me seeing players like Harold Baines and Minnie Minoso in the hall means a lot.
