DeSoto State Park, Ft. Payne, AL

We recently camped at De Soto park in Fort Payne, AL and found it to be one of the best state parks we've been to. They have recently completed a new gated camping area with full hook ups including cable. The sites are spaced well apart with many pull through and easy back in sites. The bath house is new and well kept. Lots of things to do in the area including the "Little River Canyon" that I call the grand canyon of the east. Give this one a try next time you're going that way. info at Alapark

X2 on DeSoto State Park... We have camped there a few times... One trip we hit the lodge was having a fish fry and all campers were welcome... That was neat...

Love the LIL Grand Canyon... The road down to the bottom of it however looked like a long way down... I didn't want to drive down to bottom haha...

Another very similar campground just to the north of it called CLOUDLAND CANYON State park just inside the GA line at Trenton has much of the same beautiful scenery... It is also up on the Lookout Mtn road...

Haven't been to DeSoto since they upgraded the sites... They didn't used to have 50AMP service... Have both Tent camped as well as my OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer... They was closed down for almost a whole year getting all of that done...

I was tent camping on the gated loop road one time and had a great time. When I started tearing down the site and packing I found I was sleeping with a whole heard of Tarantula Spiders under my tent floor haha... Glad I didn't know that at the time...

I have also TENT camped in the primitive section...

Seemed like everytime I went there when we left I got turned around and never got to go back to the Ft Payne entrance haha... The S-curve near the camp ground always turned me around for some reason...
