An Escort at the site? My wife would never stand for it.

Wish they did that where we live. The lots are back to back and people in these 40 plus foot motor homes and big 5th wheels drive across one lot to get to the one that they have. When they drive across the first lot the run over the sewer, and since all the utilities are between the lots nobody knows what kind of damage they are doing by running over them.

I have never been to a campground where there is an escort. Since I am the Dear Wife and the driver, I have absolutely no problem declining assistance from anyone... just ask my DH in the passenger seat!

I don't have a problem with an escort to my site since there is nothing better than local knowledge when traveling in an unknown area (How about that virtually invisible tree limb?). But a couple of weeks ago I was checking in for a one night stay while traveling from point A to point B and the escort insisted on "helping" me hook up everything. My normal routine after leveling is to hook up the electricity, put slides out, and turn on a/c. After that I like to do it a bit slower. I usually travel with enough fresh water that I don't need the water hookup "right now" and my tanks don't need to be dumped "right now" either. This guy insisted and just wouldn't go away until it was all done. This really rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't say anything after I realized he wasn't going to give up. It was the campground policy and ok for most folks, just.......

The only time I checked in to an unknown cg after dark, I would have paid someone to show me the site. It was dark and we were tired from a long days drive. I got disoriented and had to tour the cg with fifth wheel in tow to find my site. Not a soul out or in the office.

Now help setting up? I would have declined.

We have a routine for parking and setting up.

There are all kind of potential problems if that routine is broken.

The idea that someone would have an issue with an escort assisting them seems pretty crazy to me. Why wouldn't you accept this? Why would you feel like there is something wrong with this? Lighten up people.

I agree.. We saw something that was hysterical to us but I am sure not to those involved. A really large motorhome was trying to make an entrance to a road the wrong way..They must have realized they passed their campground and were trying a back way ( u turns arent realistic in this area) This involved a 150 degree turn and the road was a little over 10 feet wide with a ditch on each side and trees right on the far side of the ditch.. It was stuck in the middle.. Now this was not a campground but imagine if it was and there were utilities in that span in the middle.. I am quite sure escorts are provided not to make money not to be nice but to protect the campgrounds structure and support services
