Last summer I spent four weeks camping around the Michigan UP and found Fayette Historic State Park. It's a smaller CG compared to most Michigan State Parks, but the area is very nice with a lot of history. The Historic Townsite adjoining the CG is great, focusing on the iron-smelting operations that use to take place there years ago. The CG has vault toilets (no showers), no dump station, has electric at sites, and a couple of water spigots for filling jugs. If you want a nice pull thru site #25, #24, #27, and #10 are great choices. Back-ins would be #33 (nice view), #12 (view), and #54 (large site).
There's a nice beach/picnic area on Lake Michigan, and a boat launch.
I didn't have any reservations, but site #21 was just fine for my needs;
Twin blast furnace building is representative of the buildings within the Townsite area;
I highly recommend at least a two night stay to enjoy the area.
