Fishemans Memorial, RI

We have reservations for mid October at Fishermans Memorial campground near Point Judith in R.I.. Does anyone have suggestions on places to visit or activities in the area?

We've been there a couple of times and have always made the trek to Newport. Not too bad a ride, and lots to do.

Im guessing you may be over near Ekonk hill turkey farm in CT. You could ride the Block Islsnd ferry, check out the coast guard house restaurant. Walk around Galilee and see all the fishing boats. There’s also Beaver Tail state park in Jamestown. That’s a good campground to just sit back and relax at too. Which loop are you in? There’s also a good place for firewood a little ways before the campground on the right. It’s a farm and wedding hall. I can’t think of the name at the moment. Dogs are also allowed on the beach after a certain date in October also.

Yep, near the turkey farm. Don't know the number of the area but I believe it is the first area to the left when driving in. It is a back in site. I can't believe that every non tent site is reserved for the weekend of October 20th. If we like it we will try to reserve a site for next summer.

Just looking this morning on Reserve America. There’s a full hook up site available in loop one. Site91. That loop is a very good one to be in. I checked Friday till Sunday. Not sure how long you are staying but I think you’d like that site they have sewer also on that site.

Loop one is recommended. Gonna remember that. When we go for our three days we will have a chance to walk around and take notes.

If you can move your current site to site 91 I would recommend it.

Well the wife and I celebrated our 44th anniversary the way campers do. We took our camper to Fishermans Memorial and had a good time. Good thing the heater works well. The place has an interesting history as an abandoned military installation. One of the bunkers was to have a 16" gun that used shells that weighed 2,000 pounds with a 26 mile range. All this according to the literature that was axailable at the office. On another note we found several great places to eat. Annivesary dinner was at Spain of Narragansett. A bit more upscale than I figured but was very happy with the dinner, service, and price. Can't wait to go back.
