The DEP will be announcing "conditions" later today, so it's not yet clear if the parks are opening for day use only, or if that will include camping. Watch this space...

Per the Florida DEP, only some state parks, and day use only. No camping, as of 5/1's mid afternoon statement.

Campgrounds here open June 1. Out of state travelers must quarantine for 14 days. This means not leaving your space for anything.
That is of today.
It may change.

Some State Parks are closed and expect to stay that way. Portland Head Light ( FT William Park) has been closed a month and will probably stay that way.

We were due to open for camping May 15, yesterday it changed until June 21. We will be lucky if we open at all this summer.

Starting on May 4th our governor has lifted the stay at home order. On May 11th non essential businesses can start to reopen with limited access such as restaurants can seat up to 50% capacity. No bars open yet. BUT, he has extended the campground closure to May 23rd now. That is Memorial Day weekend and they will lose out on major $$$. I simply cannot understand this. I can go out to eat and sit among the crowd but I can't go camping which in my view is the ultimate social distancing. There must be a reason that I'm missing.

A quick update...

There's no official word, but most FL state parks now appear to be accepting reservations for 5/16 onward... or, at least, ReserveAmerica are, on their behalf. We have a local booking at the end of the month and, so far, they didn't cancel it.

More news, as it breaks.

The trouble is the situation is fluid. The Governor is targeting people coming from hot spots now.. While we have held things in check that is not true for more populated areas.. So it is a waiting game. If the virus recedes in other states the July date for accepting August reservations may move up sooner. If it doesn't the summer may be toast.

It is an evolving situation. Our hospitals have handled the case load well but may not be able to handle a summer visitor caseload. And there may be testing required of visitors which is a big hurdle as we have had trouble with testing supplies.

I would check with your potential campground host for sure.

I just added a day on the front side for our July trip to Top Sail SP in FL. Hopefully they'll be open by then!
