Florida state parks

Ok, we have booked at several Florida state parks coming up in the upcoming weeks. Anyone have any experiences with Blue Spring State Park, Hillsborough River State Park, Lake Louisa State Park or Fort De Soto? Are these nice campgrouds? What interesting area attractions should we not miss?

I stayed at Hillsborough River State Park a couple of years ago when we went to the Tampa RV Show, nice park.
Have not stayed at the other three but have talked to many people that have stayed at Fort De Soto and they have lots of positive comments.

Blue Springs SP is a nice quiet park. The Blue spring run is full of Manatee in the winter and you have many opportunities to see them. Bike trails and St John river tours operate out of the park. There are restored building on the site from revolutionary times.

Caution: when getting close to the park in Orange City, Fl you will turn off US 17/92 onto French Ave to get to the park. Make sure you approach the intersection so as to make a left turn onto French ave. and NOT a right turn. A large rig will hit the curb when turning from the right.

Fort de Soto is a great park! The beaches are amazing, I believe they have even won awards. A lot of raccoons in the park around supper time. They really take over the park at that time. We really enjoyed our stay there. Our site backed right onto the water.

hmmmmmm....

Well, I know that there are lots of alligators at Hillsborough River State Park, and if I were to believe everything I read on the internet there have been multiple "Class A Sightings" of Bigfoot there as well. (whatever a "Class A Sighting" is....) I also read that Fort De Soto is supposed to haunted with ghosts. So all in all, if I only see raccoons, I guess I will be pretty safe!! :^#)

I am really looking forward to seeing these state parks... thanks for all of the info from everyone. I also look forward to any more comments about these parks!
Thanks

Henderson State Park

Just got reservations at Henderson State Park in Destin for the end of March too, so if anyone has any insider info on Henderson, I am interested. It looks nice on the internet.

They are all great parks. We stay at Hillsborough at least 3 times a year and love it.

We stayed at Hillsboro River this weekend for our second time. It is a very nice park with several hiking trails, a really nice swimming pool and of course you can canoe or kayak in the river. There are always alligators in Florida lakes and rivers, but we did not see any this trip. We did see a white tailed deer and plenty of signs from feral hogs. If you want to see alligators by the hundreds, go to Mayakka River. I did a write up on that park a few weeks ago.

Ft Desoto is incredible, we were there least weekend, rules are strictly enforced, but can't wait for our next tip, they even rent fire pits for $3 a night. Seems like a lot of locals spend the weekend there
