Fort Wilderness and WDW dog hotel

Taking our Jayco Precept Prestige 36u to Walt Disney World Fort Wilderness in September 2021. Bringing our dog as everything we've read supports dogs at the Fort. Plus WDW has a dog day care or "hotel" near the Fort.

Our dog usually sleeps in Jayco while we're out, however he will bark if someone knocks.

How dog friendly is the Fort?
How good is the WDW dog day care hotel or is it just a bunch of small cages.

Thanks

The FORT is very dog friendly.. They have a dog park that has a large dog and small dog area. As to Best Friends, it is highly rated, but as with everything DISNEY it is $$$.

Grumpy is correct, very dog friendly. We haven’t used Best Friends tho, our wiener dog would happily nap while we were away and was always ready for a walk when we got back. The Fort has the usual collection of birds and squirrels plus deer and wild turkey, loads of wonderful scents to study.

Fort Wilderness and dogs

Our dog is going to love the various other animal smells you mentioned. Actually we didn't realize the Fort had such an assortment.

Who would knock to cause the dog to bark?

Very friendly and depending on where you are located there might be a gator or two. We backed up to the canal and saw a gator during our stay (2015). This was before the child got bit (2016) and I believe WDW has added some additional safe guards since then.

We have two English Setters that stay in our Jayco. We put the tv on to keep them from turkey noise! Air on to keep them cool and they sleep.we go to the parks at 10 and home around 6 for dinner. The have about the same schedule at home. Plus chewed. They walk and love the squirrels. Then a golf cart ride to the best dog park. Then home.

Was walking the wiener dog on our first trip (2015 IIRC) in a beautiful shaded but relatively open area behind our campsite. 3-4 deer came running past us and I thought Cookie (wiener dog) would turn herself inside-out trying to run after them. She’s now gone and that memory alone is almost worth the $$ we spent. Just the Bride, Cookie and the guy that drove; an awesome time.
