Fort Wilderness in Disney World

After 2191 km of towing (25 hours in motion) we arrived at The Fort. Here for 5 nights and it's going to be great weather and a great time. If you have not been here before, you need to try it. I'm certain you would love it!

Without a doubt Fort Wilderness is the nicest campgrounds we have ever camped at. After a long hiatus we rented a Jayco Eagle 5th last October and had them put it on the site for us at The Fort. It was every bit as fun as we had remembered it. The extravagant halloween decorations adorning some of the sites were over the top. We even took a horse drawn hayride that took us on a site seeing tour to see the best decorated sites. Now that we have our x213 we are looking to upgrade our tow vehicle so that we can take it to Fort Wilderness. Preliminary plans are for next September.

We are in loop 1400. Going to Epcot this afternoon and evening to catch the fireworks tonight. Later we will ride our bicycles thru 400 to have a look.

I'd love to go someday but it's 5100 km (3200 miles) from here to there. I'd need a newer tow vehicle and more vacation time.

We spent Thanksgiving week last year in loop 1400 and loved it. It's hard to beat, with it pretty much in the center of the campground, easy walking distance to the pool, Meadow depot and the community campfire.

We call the fort "the bubble." Once you are there the rest of the worlds is out of focus. Great place to relax. Cleanest campground we have ever stayed at. They sanitize and clean the playground equipment every morning. We always plan extra vacation days just to hang out, walk around the trails, watch the armadillos, etc. Love it!

We love it, too. Have been 'camping' there twice; once in a class-B and Christmas 2012 in one of their cabins. While in resorts, we've been in Fort Wildernessa couple of other times to see the 'Hoop De Doo Review.' Late this year we will be there for 2 weeks - half in the parks the other half just relaxing.

Hey let me know what your top 3 favorite things were on your trip. Excluding the camping stuff.

Hope your having fun. We have our trip booked for the end of April. We are flying this time but next time I am driving and staying at the fort wilderness campground! Would of drove this time with the camper but I don't know how the kiddos would do for the 1600 mile trip. The are 3 and 6.

What kinds of favorite things? We are going soon, third trip in 6 years. We love Hoop-de-doo Review, of course. I really enjoyed "building our own roller coaster" at Epcot. Our kids did a Secret Agent scavenger hunt in Epcot using mobile phones--that was fun and unique.

Top 3 according to Mr. Plaid: Wishes Night Time Spectacular, Hearing "have a magical day" from all the cast members, (he couldn't think of a third, it's all fun).

Check out the campground for sure! Last time we were there the kids were reluctant to go into the parks they wanted to just hang out camp (so did mom & dad). Hope you guys have an awesome trip in April!

We couldn't pick top 3 overall. Maybe a top 3 in each park, our must do attractions... (keeping your kids in mind):
AK: Safari, Tough to be a Bug, anything watching/near animals
MK: Pirates, Mansion, (for you I'd include Small World.. even just thinking about it, I can't get the song out of my head )& Jungle Cruise
Studios: Toy Story Mania, Muppet Vision 3D, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (new & wasn't open the last time we were there; check height restriction)
EPCOT & World Showcase: Illuminations, Spaceship Earth (aka 'Golf ball' ), Turtle Talk with Crush (Crush interacts with the kids ).

Not going to justify our choices, so don't ask!

Be aware, there are tons of other things for young and old, but you are doing your homework and are well aware of that - aren't you?

And, BTW, our first trip we drove in 2 days from Southern Michigan to WDW.
2 adults, 2 kids (4 and 8), in a not very new 2-door Ford Escort and stayed at the Poly.
At the end of day 2, we virtually stumbled out of the car, staggered into the lobby, our jaws dropped, and I thought 'Holy ****' this is awesome but where do we go and what do we do? We felt totally out of place.

After food and a good night's rest, it all came together the next morning at breakfast in the 'Tangeroa Terrace.' We reviewed our meal reservations and our attraction plans and had several wonderful Disney Days!
Then it was back to reality in the Escort and a l-o-n-g drive home.

Which level did you want to start with? 1400 and 400 are both Premium, 1600, 1700, 1800 and 1900 are full hook-up.

ok so then maybe it was 1600 and 400, they told me on the phone, i just cant remember for sure

i would like to try and get the premium site for the whole time, either way its still cheaper for a site at wdw then it is for a electrical only site at the places we are used to camping so the 90 bucks a night does not bother me at all with all the amenities they have

ya i have been keeping an eye on the website, but i have already made 3 expensive calls so i will just roll the dice when i get there

also you being from the rust belt like us, how do you wash your rig on the way down? i know before it starts to get warm im gonna need to get the salt of my truck and trailer

also i have figured my first stop to be a koa in kentucky (corbin) it looks like i can book it but i hav never stayed at a KOA so im wondering if they are open year round, i would like to not have to pay for a hotel or motel
my 2nd night stop i want to make it to lake city (lake city campground looks nice) then when we get up the next morning we are within 3 hours and can have a nice easy drive that day

and these are also figured by using google maps so times may very
