We had no problem renting a golf cart. Last year they were booked.

For those that have experience, how is camping at the Fort in early September? We’re debating a last minute trip there for this time slot, but the weather really has us second guessing. We’ve never been in Orlando in late August/early September.

Early September can still be pretty hot. You will still see days in the 90s with high humidity.

We stay for a month a the wilderness. We rent a golf cart off site and save a bundle. The golf cart is worth it to us. We go at night and see the light show. We drive it ti the golf cart parking lot when we get back at night it is there for us to drive to our camper. We have two English Setters and they love the golf cart.We drive around and look at rv’s and there Christmas lights. We stay around the 1500 section. Big site. Big cement pad. Plus turkeys, deer, rabbits and lizards. The campground is the most relaxing part of staying there. Very friendly people. Clean and safe.

Campersam9, does Disney have monthly rates for Ft. W? I haven't seen any published. At the published daily rate, it would be very pricey for 30 days....

Only daily rates and they vary based on season, holidays and weekends. Also heard that the new reservation disclaimer states 30 days max with 28 days required between each 30 day block. Whether it gets enforced is yet to be seen.
Up until 5 years ago they had Winter Settler Rates that offered some good discounts for Travel Agent sponsored groups. It was nice while it lasted.

No it changes all the time. Holidays increase according. We pay ahead and pick a loop not a site. They work with you. We rent the golf cart the full month. It is as good or better than Disney.

Not surprising. We always booked our winter stays (Jan-Apr) over a year in advance as soon as the booking window opened, as did most others who stayed long term.

Just checked in here at the Fort. Got the 100 loop again which I am super excited about.
Food trucks setting up near the settlement. Not something that was here the last time. Of course, Trails End isn't open for dinner at the moment. Only breakfast.

It's thin. I'd say there are at least 4 or 5 empty sites on our loop alone. We also took a ride around and the other loops have available spots and even many of the cabins are open.

Right from the Mouse:
July 6 also marks the return of Chip 'N Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, where guests can join the nutty friends for a campfire celebration followed by a classic Disney movie under the stars.
