We have what is called disbursed camping in the National Forests (boondock or dry camping at it's best). Some National Forests don't have any disbursed camping though. The one's that do have a 14 day limit. There are no fees camping in these areas (per say-- we pay for them in our taxes).

I was pleasantly surprised to find a city park campground in Lexington, NE that was free, including electricity (30 and 50 amp). Only one other rig was there during my stay, so it was quiet. I was there for a meeting. I have also found a free city park campground in Plainview, NE. If travelling, you may wish to contact local city governments and inquire about their campgrounds and costs. I wonder how many of these are out there.

Neat! Free, wow. I wonder how they can do that but glad for others that they can. Thanks for the suggestion

This was very interesting - thank you for all the information. I have gotten a few emails inviting us to join campgrounds like since we bought the trailer. I don't know where they got my address but if we do decide to buy, we will buy used as advised.

We are going to tour an Ocean Canyon resort in Guntersville, AL this week. Anyone have any experience with this company? I guess I should be ready for a high pressure sales pitch lol!!

If you are buying a membership from a private party you need to be aware that a membership can only be sold X number of times and you might not be able to sell it if you are the last owner. I believe that CRA Colorado River Adventures is this way.

We are staying at a campground that offers a 10% discount for first time campers, Sandy Pond in Plymouth, Ma.
