Glacier National Park

We are planning a trip to Glacier National Park in September- leaving right after Labor Day. Looking for comments about campgrounds on the east side and about must see/do activities. We will probably also stop in Medora, ND, to see the Teddy Roosevelt National Park. Thanks.

We went to Glacier a few years ago but didn't camp there. The red bus tour is a nice tour unless it rains and the guide waits till it's to late to put the top up. We also thought the lodge in East Glacier was nice to visit. We stoped at North Teddy Roosevelt on our way it was a nice stop but not more than a few hours of sight seeing. We didn't make it to Teddy Roosevelt south but heard it was more interesting.

We went a couple years ago but stayed on west side in Hungry Horse, Mt. At the Mountain meadow RV Park was a very nice place there is so much to see cant list it all but the Going to the Sun road is a must we drove it and could stop at different places along the way to take pictures and look at Bears and mountain goats but just cant describe the view well worth the trip.

There is a campground on the East side near St.Mary. Our favorite is on the West side at Apgar.

We spent several days tent camping there in June last year. We stayed at Many Glacier CG above St. Mary's. Road was very rough and poorly maintained getting there. The views were awesome, Mountain goats were in the CG. Grizzlies were everywhere. Most important is was deserted compared to Yellowstone. No services past St Mary either.

We have stayed in Glacier NP's St Mary's campground on the east side of Glacier. It is close to the park HQ and is typical of a NP campground with smaller Aspen trees as I remember. Last time in Glacier we stayed in the Fish Creek campground on the west side. Again, a typical NP campground but is among tall pine trees which were to our liking for shade.

Can't speak to any commercial campgrounds there as never used them.

Happy camping there as Glacier NP is a favorite of ours!
