Glacier National Park Montana

I am hoping to make a 2 week trip up to Glacier from Oklahoma next summer but I have no idea where to stay. Can anyone make a recommendation? I would prefer full hookups but can live with just 30 amp and water. Needs to be pet friendly also. Thanks for the help.

What are you towing? There are height and length limits on Go to the Sun Road.

You can always take advantage of the free bus
You'll have to stay outside the park if you require electric. None of the campgrounds in the park have electric nor water hookups.

You might look at Glacier Meadow RV Park Our Home | Glacier Meadow RV Park and Campground
I spent a week here this summer. Water & Electric with free pump out 3 times a week. Quite, clean, away from city lights so unbelievable stars. If you do make Glacier Hidden Lake is a must see, http://www.hikinginglacier.com/hidden-lake-overlook.htm 1.5 mile one way hike, Saw mountain goats, lots of ground kidders, and luckily saw a Grisly walking toward the road and got a couple great pictures as it stood on it's hind legs and scented.
DW just reminded me there is no electronic service at the camp, no cells, internet, or TV. They have a cell "hot spot" but you'll need your DVD's and some good books.

I plan to stay somewhere outside the park. Would love to camp on a lake. There are so many places and most have mixed reviews. When we visit the go to the sun road it will just be in the superduty.

I'd so rather stay near St Mary. The campground cited is off to the south quite a ways. Don't get me wrong there is plenty to see down there. But if you want to get near Grinnell Glacier Many Glacier and Logan Pass you have a long drive just to get there. You are closer to Apgar.. that end of GTTTS road but that end is flatter and not many views

But you would be closer to Polebridge an awesome bakery there.

Dont worry too much about ratings.. Are you going for amenities and campground time or to see the Park?
I'd suspect you will just be sleeping in the campground and out during the day.

I can't recommend any RV hookup campgrounds. We just take a genny and boondock. Rising Sun is a beautiful campground but not for big rigs.

We stayed at Johnson's Campground in St. Mary a few years ago. It is on a hill with great views. We would go there again.

Glacier National Park Montana

We were there this past summer and split our time between West Glacier and St Mary. We really enjoyed our stay in Fish Creek Campground in the park on the west side. If you can go without hook ups I recommend this. If not there is the KOA in West Glacier. We also stayed in the KOA at St Mary. Great people there, great view of the mountains. But not nearly as pretty as Fish Creek. You really need to split your time between the two sides of the park. So much to see and do that our 4 days was not enough.

We stayed at the KOA on the west side. It was very nice, lots of trees, in most of the CG. The pool was nice and warm. Not to far from the park entrance.

The difference we found between east and west was that the east side seemed a lot more peaceful (some might call it boring - we like boring). St. Mary East Glacier KOA was very nice. We stayed there for several days. There were very few trees; but because of that, the view of the hills was nice. It was the perfect location to reach the East Visitor Center and shuttle, which is the way to go in our opinion, across Going to the Sun. That is a really scary drive; but in the shuttle you can stop at many places along the way and sightsee as you ride. We didn't stay on the west side but did drive there to see it - around, not across Going to the Sun. it seemed very busy with a lot more people and businesses/hotels/restaurants. It was a pretty area. The east and west side are really quite a contrast! Maybe someone has stayed at both and has an opinion.
