Halloween fun

We always reserve a spot at Indian Cave State Park down by Shubert Nebraska for Halloween fun. Last year some friends came down and had such a great time they wanted to do this a little closer to home. They are wanting campers to come to Alexandria State Lakes this year the weekend of Oct. 15th. They plan on decorating campsites and having trick or treating for the kids. Maybe this can be the start of a great time every year.

We have done this at a local CG for the last 3 years. They have a Halloween themed weekend three weeks in a row leading up to Halloween. Most sites are decked out in Halloween decor, there is a haunted house, costume judging, and of course trick or treating which is very productive for the kids as everyone brings lots of candy to give out. It makes for a fun weekend for all, we are going again this year.

This will be my 3rd year going to Potato Creek SP in northwest Indiana. It's only about 90 minutes from home and is a decent SP. Everyone decorates their site from a simple string of orange pumpkin lights all the way up to a full blown cemetery.

The kids really haul in the candy and there is always a great variety of costumes to enjoy. They have a pumpkin carving contest, doggie costume contest, etc. It is also a great time for some fall geocaching!

The Halloween camp is always a sad one for me as it means the end of camping for the year.

We reserve a spot at Indian Cave every year. They have decorating contests to win camping weekends, and everybody really gets into it. They have haunted hayrack rides and sometimes have buffalo feeds. The kids trick or treat, basically the whole campground becomes a family.
