Houston-Orlando Round Trip

We just got back from our trip to WDW and thought I'd share. Trip was great, TV and 5th gave us a "drama-free" experience. We spent 2 nights on the road each way. Outbound 1 night each at the Coushatta Casino (Kinder LA) and Eagle's Landing (Holt FL). Inbound 2 nights at Doc's RV (Gulf Shores AL). Eight nights at the Ft Wilderness Campground in WDW. Coushatta is an excellent park but there are no trees for shade, Eagle's is close to I-10 and still quiet but there is little in the area. Gulf Shores is a beautiful area and Doc's was a small-ish park with mostly full-timers but very tidy. Only complaint was the sand. Wilderness is a beautiful CG, tall pines for shade, surprisingly quiet and as one would expect from a Disney property, very well maintained. Only complaint there was every time I turned around that mouse had his hand in my pocket.
The pic has the summary of miles and mpg:

Sounds like a fun trip.. Congrads...

Made the same trip in 1980, In a 77 Datsun B-210... 5 of us in a car that holds 3 comfortably.. Never had so many asking to drive.. Good ol' I-10... That was back when you could drive 85mph... Did the trip in 12 hours..

We have been planning to make a trip to Gulf Shores and we were wondering about Doc's. Wow, can you open your door with your awning tilted that far down?

We were at fort wilderness a week ago today...probably drove our golf cart right by your site.

How did you like. A ping at gulf shores? Thinking of making a trip that way sometime

WWsmith, Yeah, the door opens just barely. Doc's was pretty nice. It's a little plain but quiet and out of the way. Ask for a site with grass or a wood deck and spread out your patio mat. The sand gets into everything. A site on the West side might be nice to get more afternoon shade. There's a CG next door to Doc's that has gotten some pretty bad reviews but it looked pretty nice as we drove by. Didn't go into the park so I can't really say what it's like.

r8ing, Sure, that was me waving. Not sure what you mean by "a ping".
