I hate towing through....

Cincinnati. I absolutely hate it. Every time I drive through Cincinnati their narrow lanes become even more narrow from all the construction. I've towed through quite a few large cities getting from point a to point b, but never have I had experiences like those driving through Cincinnati. When I see Cincinnati in my way I know I'm in for a white nuckle ride.

What city do you hate towing through?

Take 275 E only about 10 minutes longer and a lot less back-ups.

Kansas City is even worse and very windey.

The first thing that came to my mind when I seen "I hate towing through..." was a tie between the kids fighting and a hangover. But I see in your post you says city, so I would say that would be Atlanta for me, no question there.

I live in Cincinnati and can't agree more. We traveled from Cincy to California in 2013, 9,000 miles in 9 weeks. When we crossed the Indiana border into Greater Cincinnati, we both said these were the worse roads we've encountered. Sad part is nothing has changed as of 2017. We do take I-275 whenever possible, I wouldn't care if it was another 30 minutes. I-71 and I-75 are equally screwed up.

Salt Lake City is one of the ones I dread.
Narrow lanes, lots of traffic, lots of construction, and 70-75 MPH speed limits(that means everyone is driving 80mph).

I also live in Cinti. I always avoid 75 & 71 even in a car.
I always take 275 west around thru IND when I'm going south.
I hate driving thru Chicago and have gone quite a bit out of my way to avoid it while towing my RV

Any large metropolitan area gets my vote.

From experience: Dallas, Atlanta, New Jersey, New York, Los Angeles, SanDiego, San Francisco, Sacramento, Little Rock, and Memphis, and St. Louis - All of them were a total drag.

My first reaction to the thread title was "wind". I hate towing through wind. Especially a head wind (aren't they all?!) It's not like I'm white knuckling or anything, my trailer, hitch and truck are all well-matched and my rig tows well even in the wind. But I still hate it. Don't mind the rain, hot roads on a summer day worry me a little, but I hate the wind.

As far as location, any urban area is on my list. Houston, Dallas, Austin, all bad; San Antonio is slightly better, but the interchanges kill a trip through the city. But in addition, it's any road going South to the coast from the IH-10 corridor. Most of those roads go through the Eagleford Shale oil play, and have been utterly destroyed by tanker and belly dump trailer traffic. We can't fix them fast enough. And even if we could fix them faster, the influx of tax money from oil production has been spent on "other" stuff, so there's not much left to fix the roads now. Oil production taxes go into the state's "Rainy Day Fund", and getting the money back out to fix the damage caused by that influx of capital is a PITA.

Sorry for the rant.

Pennsylvania. I hate constantly dodging potholes on the interstate while towing ! Not that I tried it, but with your eyes closed, you can tell when you have crossed the state border into or out of Penn. Worst interstates of any of the Eastern states.

x2 on the PA Turnpike. Absolute disaster year after year. I'm just 15 min from an interchange and go out of my way not to use it unless there is no other way.

You should visit the southwest corner now. They have I-70, 119, 31, 819 and the entire New Stanton I-70/Turnpike interchange area under destruction as we speak. It is nearly impossible to get anywhere from here at the moment. The sad part is, the new concrete they are putting in is just a rough as the old pavement they just removed. I swear that it has to be done on purpose.

I agree on Atlanta but will add Shreveport, LA to this list. The rough roads keep me cringing all the way through.

Of course, taking my rig across the Throgs Neck Bridge in the Bronx getting to/from Long Island NY was my top stress drive ever!

I-10 thru Louisiana is not fun. The expansion joints will shake your molars out if you're traveling over 40 mph

I-10 in Louisiana has cracked and broken big rig wheels. Talked to many a truck driver. It ain't no joke and we avoid it. Reminds me of some of the Indiana and other northern roads.
