Interstate Rest Areas

Planning a trip from northeast Colorado to Safford AZ in May. It’s about a 13 hour drive so we plan to stop once to rest both ways. I know on I-25 in New Mexico there are several nice rest stops. What are the rules about sleeping in a rest stop. Obviously we will stay hooked up. We just want to stop when we get tired and jump in the trailer for a few hours shut eye. Is this ok or is it against the rules?

There is a 24-hour stay limit. Overnight parking permitted. No camping or sleeping outside of vehicle.

Log on to "Shorepower" as there might be some rest areas along that route where you can plug-in for I think $1.00 per hour. I've used them in the past for running my A/C , frig and WH. The advantage is you can sleep in your bed and not the car and$8-$10.00 for the convenience is worth it. There expanding little by little so with some luck you might find a location.

It doesn’t appear there are any Shorepower locations near areas we would be resting.

When it says “no camping or sleeping outside the vehicle.” Is the trailer considered part of the vehicle?

It would seem to reason that if left hooked up and no "formal campsite" is created then it's just overnight to rest.
