Jacksonviile Fl to Disney

Has anyone towed their trailer west from Jacksonville FL on 301/90 over to I-75 and then down to Disney World? How is 301/90?

This will be our first long trip and doing my planning. We are actually going thru the Carolinas from TN so we do NOT have to go through or around Atlanta. Our last couple car trips have been awful in and around Atlanta both directions.

Even though it is a toll road I would take I-95 to I-4 to 417(toll road) and take exit 6. Just my 2 cents.

The key to Atlanta (IMO) is to go straight through on 75 vs the bypass. I have had good success in the evening (say after 7pm) heading south and north late morning (between 10-12). Then again, this is driving a car, not towing a trailer.

Plowtoy- Our last couple of car trips through Atlanta were awful. We tried thru town and we tried around town. The last time 6 months ago we went the bypass and because of construction we got over 1.5 hours behind schedule. Our trip is planned in 5 months and that construction is still going to be going on. Thats why going the Carolinas should only be about 50 miles further.

As long as there are two or more of you in car/truck/motorhome you can use the HOV lane while towing.

You can?

In California NO towing is permitted in the Carpool/HOV lanes.

In GA it's OK. We've been using it for the last 4/5 years and there are landscapers and others with trailers using it as well. We've been passed by GSP, Sheriffs Cars, Atlanta Police & DOT and nobody blinks an eye.

X2. SR 417 though a toll road, will literally take you to Mickey's front door and the added bonus of missing the heart of Orlando area traffic on I-4, which recently embarked on a 20 mile long 6 1/2 year construction project from Seminole County to the Universal Studios exit south of downtown Orlando. One other I-4 construction note, it is being widened from the interchange with I-95 to SR 44. Supposed have been completed by now but isn't.

If I'm not mistaken, some signs say no vehicles over 6 wheels in the HOV lanes. However, Grumpy is right. I have never seen anyone pulled in the HOV lanes, even cars with only 1 person in them! We also ride the HOV lane and have never had a problem. I have found it is much easier to go through downtown than to take the by-pass. Coming in to Marietta from the North is getting as bad as going through Atlanta.
No matter, if you are flying from the Southeast you are going through Atlanta, driving is getting just about as bad!
