James Island County Park CG, SC

One of the sacrifices I thought we would have to make to start the TT life is an annual trip to Folly Beach S.C. (Norty Land). We would try to go every April or October in large part to most of the rental rates being lower and more affordable. Well that was before we started to discover our whole new world, that their are places we can go to that we may have never considered before for various reasons, mostly having to do with expense or not wanting to tent camp in that area. Our trip to Gulf State Park Al. in October is a perfect example of that.
Well now that were looking at destinations in a different light, there sits JIPC ten miles north of the beach, a place we have passed by dozens of times going back and forth to Folly. So we can still go down AND have way more options as to the time of year we can go since we don't have to worry about rental rate increases! Man getting a starter TT was so affordable at this point in our lives I'm kicking myself for waiting so long!

PS My source on James Island tells me it's a great park and the photos and reviews confirm it! Thanks Norty, be there in early May.

You are welcome! We just walked in from spending a couple of hours walking and driving around the light show there. Tomorrow morning, first thing I will call and make my reservations in the campground for this time next year for 3 night of camping.
Kinda strange this year, everyone is in shorts and flip flops.

Fantastic park! We stay there every time we are in Charleston. Great park, nice sites, good price, lots of amenities and good access to the city. You will love it!

We stayed at the James Island campground for the first time in November and we loved the place. So easy to get into Charleston.

I've heard nothing but great thing so thanks. The proximity to Charleston and the beach is fantastic. It's just a place we fell in love with the first time we went. A beach and market place to keep the dw happy, great food and pubs and tons of history for a amateur history buff like me.

As long as you stay at the campground you have complimentary parking at the park/beachespecially (Folly and Isle of Palms).

They also have a shuttle bus that drops you and picks up at the downtown visitors center and runs regularly for a small fee.

Very nice, they do that at Gulf State also. That beach parking can add up.

We saw that, finding parking can be a challenge. Just get me close to Molly Darcy's and I'm good. BTW, recommend any good spots for a lunch and a cold one in Charleston? Last trip we checked out The Blind Tiger, pretty sure that was the name but it was very nice, especially the courtyard out back.

We will take you to Smoky Oak Taproom. 3 miles from park. Good food and everything on tap. Loads of craft beer if that's your taste.

Yes that's it. We just made reservations for the last 4 days of 2016. We like to go there right after Christmas, relax, enjoy the lights with several camper friends.

We live 4 miles way.
