I always have a a couple of links available that lists the camp grounds by each state and has a web link so you can go get details...

try this link...

I might offer I have had some bad experiences at the I65/South BLVD Exit in Montgomery, AL. This is a high crime rate area around the truckstop and all of the business places seems to have moved away and all the bldgs are boarded up. Looks like a war zone to me as of a couple years back...

Northern part, I am leaving Illinois and hope to make it to Alabama before stopping for the night. I see that there is a place in Decatur(Point Mallard Campground), but no reservations and my wife would like to have one.

there are several in south tn. right off the intersate starting around columbia. I have read good reviews about the teaxs T a few exits below columbia. about 45 minutes to an hour north of the al. line. I think there are three within 15 miles there. also if you take hwy 31 after you cross the state line there is one across the street from the athens high school stadium. also there is the cullman campground off of exit 310 in cullman. there is a city rv park in Hoover. and a couple of state parks around birmingham. most of the state parks will be full. hope this helps

Point mallard in decatur is a nice park, they take reservations this time of the year, just not in a few months of the summer, but it would be about 7-8 miles off the interstate i believe.

The park in athens - Northgate RV Travel Park http://www.alabamarvtravel.com/ is a good place if you are stoping for the night. It is very convenient. less than a mile off the interstate.

Happy camping!
