We have been to Southern Maine (Kittery to Portland), Acadia Natl Park, and Lubec. Looking for a campground in the Mid coast area and the Lakes region. Suggestions please.

Shore Hills, near Boothbay. We loved it there.

X2 - Stay there every year.
Lots of boat tours (including whale watching) out of Boothbay Harbor, Boothbay Botanical Gardens, Cabbage Island Clambakes, and a bunch of other things in the area!

X3. Absolutely awesome there! Be sure and check out Pinkhams Seafood just down the road (lobster and steamer clams at the campsite every night - who says you can't eat lobster six days in a row?!).
We really like Chewonki Campground in Wiscassett. Haven't been further east than that yet, but are for Mountain View Campground, not too far from Bar Harbor, this summer

If you will be stopping by Freeport the town has a municipal campground on Casco Bay. Reasonable rates very pleasant
Winslow Park Freeport Maine: Winslow Park and Campground
Sebago Lake State Park starts taking reservations in about a week
Colonial Mast Campground on Long Lake has wonderful staff and facilities.
Camden Hills State park is another good area. Electric & Water & allows Pets. Many good hiking trails within the Park. Hike to top Mt. Megunticook for great views of multiple Towns/harbors, etc. Can drive to top of Mt Battie for lower views
You can even walk to Camden (about 1 3/4 miles) if needed, as parking can be tough in Summer. Easy access to towns north & West of Camden, i.e. Belfast which is less congested & cheaper.
