Lowndesboro (Montgomery) Alabama campgrounds

We are from south Florida, in the Ft Lauderdale area. My wife's grandmother is from Lowndesboro, Alabama and she recently passed away and her wish was to be buried with her husband and other members of her family at the Oakview Cemetery.



So we were considering making it a short camping vacation with our travel trailer and spend a couple days in town so we can see where my wife's family is from.

So far the closest campground to the town is Montgomery South RV Park and has some pretty good reviews. Montgomery South RV Park [Welcome]

Has anyone stayed at this place or have a recommendation in the Montgomery area?

Try Gunter Hill Campground which is a Corp of Engineers park. It was remodeled a few years ago and has nice fully paved sites on a creek that runs into the Alabama river. It is a few miles outside Montgomery.

Wow wish I had thought to check this thread before taking this trip. We ended up at the Montgomery South RV park which was very nice. Right off the highway. But it's a new park and small so no shade.

That one you mentioned...I just looked it up. Very nice. Next time we run up to see family in Lowndesboro we will stay there. It's actually closer to town by 5 miles and the road runs right into my relatives house.
