Moab and “southern Utah,” Norten Arizona

Planning a 3 week trip in the area. Saw Zion and Bryce last year so we plan on staying “south.” All campgrounds near Moab seem as if they are on the hiway. Any suggestions on campgrounds and must see. We park the TT and “drive.”
Thanks.

We camped in Moab and then in Arches Park several years ago. Arches was great but no showers or electricity at that time. There is also Dead Horse park not to far either but also primitive.

Warning, it is very hot in that area and very dry. Plan on carrying multiple 2 liter bottles of water for more than a 10 minute hike.

As always in National parks, take your Golden pass if you have one and ask it there are Ranger led hikes available.

Jackets for after sundown as it gets chilly quickly!

Plenty of campgrounds if you can dry camp

https://www.discovermoab.com/blm-campgrounds/

If you need water and utilities there is a reason why those are near 191: water needs to be brought in. Dead Horse Canyon SP however does have hook ups for electric.. BYOW .. Its a bit of a drive in but spectacular

https://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/de...ta-campground/

The BLM sites are on lightly traveled roads for the most part

I have been there in April -May and Sept- Oct.. It snowed both times. It was 103 degrees both times. Such is the desert.

Can you narrow down what kind of campsites you are looking for?
* RV-Park with full hookup?
* State/Federal Campground with limited services
* Boondocking places?

We prefer to camp with full hook-ups but will camp at others as long as there is a dump station close by. We tend to stay in one place minimum 4 - 6 days.

A general statement:
The RV parks on the south side of town are more relaxed and have more room. Some are cool with families with ATV/Dirt Bikes, others are not.

Moab Rim Camppark is very ATV friendly, is one of our favorites as they have excellent WiFi for us that work during the week. Really Dog Friendly too!

The KOA is south a half mile and is more friendly for the kids (pool and things kids like)Not so dog friendly.
