Myrtle Beach State Park

Headed back to MB again for 10 days just wondering if anyone has suggestions on a better route (we did 81,64,95). We want to avoid Washington area. We plan on making this 16 hour drive in two days. Also any suggestions on things to do would also be appreciated

Sign up for the Segway Tour at Huntington Beach SP. It was great!

I absolutely avoid I-95 at all costs. That highway is a menace.
Using I-81 to avoid Washington is good.

I can't speak to the route from up north. We spend a lot of time in Myrtle Beach and surrounding area. There is tons to do, it just depends on what your interested in. The Segway tour at HBSP Norty mentioned is great. Atalaya Castle is cool too and so are the birding opportunities at HBSP. They say it's one of the best places on the eastern seaboard to view a huge variety of bird species if you're interested. All of that at just one state park (Huntington Beach). Right across from that is Brookgreen Gardens which is fantastic this time of year.

If you have some specific questions, let me know. I'll be glad to help.

Our only trip to MB, we did 81, 66, 17, 95. Mostly a good route, but too much on I95.

Our preferred route to the South keeps on 81 much farther. I would suggest staying on to Roanoke, then heading down 220 and 70 straight into Myrtle. 220 is a State Highway, so there will be stops, but it is twinned the whole way. I don't know this specific route through Roanoke, but we travel to Hilton Head and Florida on a similar route taking 77 down through Charlotte.

None of those highways is as much a freakshow as on I-95. I much prefer the relaxed pace and traffic on 81.
