Thanks, that's good to know.

Can’t see the ocean but three years ago I saw the bottom of a bottle many times!

I have stayed for 'months' at Lakewood RV Camping Resort just down the road. It is really great. If you stay for 30 days (right), I think the rate comes out to $27/day.

We have stayed at Huntington Beach SP. Very nice park and walking distance to the ocean. Like others have said, keep your drink in a mug and all is good.

**Note:When we stayed there the ants were terrible, like thousands of them on our camper after returning from beach the first day. Asked neighbors and they said you have to put borax around wheels, jacks or anything else that touches the ground. Worked like a charm, never had another problem while there.

Very helpful, thank you. I have this one tucked away

Only stayed at the KOA in Myrtle Beach. Not bad but the attitude of the staff wasn’t the best when we were there. As someone else previously mentioned, the ants can be annoying. It a southern thing!

Thanks so much for this. I jumped in and booked some dates for next year. DW is retiring and we are getting ready to do some traveling away from the cold...

OK, so our trip is coming up (staying at Huntington Beach SP for a week in early May), and I've been doing a bit of prep work. One of the things I came across is that there might be a chance for snakes to start coming out depending on the weather. Now, I've been to Myrtle Beach several times over the years and golfed; however, it has always been off season (Jan/Feb/Oct/Nov), so all we had to deal with were sleepy gators sunning themselves on the warm days.

Any tips? I've read that you should wear closed toe shoes off beach, and that to just walk slowly and be aware. Keep the campsite clean.

I know they are just doing their thing and will only bite when provoked, i just would like to minimize the accidental provocation.

I have never sweated the snakes or other critters, lol. If weather is warm, I am in flip flops. Relax and enjoy the scenery. Beautiful sunrises.

So we finished our week at Huntington Beach State Park and thanks so much for everyone who recommended it, it was fantastic! The weather was perfect, no rain and only one day was slightly overcast (with the exception of drive in day where we hit thunderstorms and hail, but setup was under clearing skies). Bike rides, relaxing on the beach, hiking, visiting Brookgreen Gardens and visiting some of the local restaurants for a drink or two...

Definitely a place to go back to, although I noticed pricing up significantly next year ($95 for FHUs instead of $70 this year).
