Need some NM help. Elephant Butte or Caballo?

Heading south for Spring Break week. We will be staying at Mather Campground in Grand Canyon NP for two nights in mid March. Would love to head to the desert or Texas Gulf to hit some warm weather later in the week, but it’s not in the cards. We don’t have enough time so I’m looking at Elephant Butte or Caballo for two nights of primitive beach camping. I realize it probably won’t be beach weather, but if the weather is decent which NM State Park is better? Thanks for your help.

You do know Caballo is a 55+ park? Although Caballo is more economical Elephant Butte has the class setting for that cocktail hour. That being said I would opt fore Caballo.

Thanks for the info. No, I did not realize it was 55+. I guess that just made my decision a lot easier. Girl 13, boy 11, and we are still young whipper snappers too!
