In September/October we drove the whole 469 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway from Great Smokey Mountains National Park to Shenendoah National Park (also the 105 miles of Skyline Drive). With all the waterfalls, caverns and sightseeing, it took us almost 3 weeks in all. We spent a lot of time in North Carolina. Our niece and her family live in Apex, but we met them in Boone for a few days. The beauty was overwhelming. In Fancy Gap, Virginia a little of Hurricane Nate hit us - rained buckets, and we thought the trees were going to blow down on us. We didn't want to come home.
