New York Area Campgrounds??

We are going to stop by New York this summer for a couple of days on our big summer trip. Coming from the North (Boston Area) on our way to Virginia Beach. Looking for recommendations.

Hi jschulz,

If you are looking for NYC, you might try here.... Liberty Harbor RV Park We stayed here a couple of years ago and it worked very well. There is a PATH station only a few blocks away so you can get into NYC. You don't stay at this place for the camping It is a place to park your RV with hookups while visiting NYC.

We have a Daughter in Township of Washington, NJ. Any good places to park around there for a few days? We can boondock or go for hookups. There are no plans in the works to go there now, but you never know what life, the good Lord and a travel trailer have in the future. We are in OR.

This one might be on your route, depending on the way you are going. It’s more in the Hudson Valley area of NY. Stayed there several times.

We like Rip Van Winkle in Saugerties. Nice campground about 2 hours north of NYC. Just around the corner from the original woodstock site.

Croton Point Park In the town of Croton on the Hudson. It is just a little north of the Now M Cuomo bridge (used to be the tappan Zee bridge). This was one of the best campsites I have been to in the entire country. You are about an hour away from NYC area & its well worth the trip especially when you get sick of the city & need to get out.

RIP is a very nice campground, but no where near the original Woodstock. Saugerties is near Woodstock, NY but Woodstock occurred almost 100 miles west in Bethel, NY. Just didn’t want someone thinking they could camp at RIP and check out the Woodstock site.

You are absolutely correct. I must have had a brain fart and was thinking of a different place. My apologies. But rip is indeed a very nice campground.
