Northern Utah and Idaho in 2020
My wife and I are planning a trip to northern Utah and Idaho in June/July 2020. We are towing a 30' travel trailer. I'd like to get recommendations for sites to see and things to do plus scenic drives and scenic campgrounds. I'm mainly interested in Forest Service or State Parks with at least electric hookups; any private parks that are not so crowded are OK too. I plan to do some fly fishing and short hikes (wife has bad knees). I'd like to see Hell's Canyon; any great viewpoints? How is the area around Copperfield? We are planning about 30-40 days for the whole trip. Thanks for any help!!

Slight change of plans. So we are still planning on this trip with some modifications. We will skip northern Utah and add Grand Teton / Yellowstone to the beginning of the trip, then Idaho, then finish with Glacier NP. So GT and Yellowstone will be mid-late June and Glacier will be mid-late July. We'll probably camp at Gros Ventre CG in Grand Teton and looking for suggestions for Yellowstone and Glacier. Dry camping is ok; would like to stay in parks, but private CGs are ok. I'd like to get reservations in order to avoid hassle of waiting in line or arriving in the early morning. If I can be assured of getting a spot by noon or so, then first come will be fine. Thanks for your help.

West Glacier KOA and Grizzly at West Yellowstone. For a great fly shop I recommend Jacklins in West Yellowstone and Glacier Angles in West Glacier. Bring a 2 and a 5 weight for the trip. Depending where you fish you may want a 10mm or .44 mag, some good pepper spray and a noisy bell to tie to your clothes.

X2 on Grizzly in West Yellowstone. For Glacier North American RV Park & Yurt Village

Coram, MT 59913 USA. It is about 5 minutes from park entrance and the the spaces are very large.

I can say that Gros Ventre CG is a good choice... and if you feel like dry camping - continue on further - or just take a day-trip.

Snake River Canyon/Shoshone Falls near Twin Falls, Idaho. I was out there in 1974 for Evel's Canyon jump. Revisited the area in 2015 and found that the earthen ramp used for the jump is still there and a historic site. Shoshone Falls is a site to behold.

Twin Falls is a great place to visit, but Shoshone Falls in July is often very low water flow, nothing as spectacular as what you would be able to see in the spring.

If you find yourself in the Boise area and wish to go north, take Idaho 21, aka Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway up to Stanley. Lots of forest service campgrounds and some great trout fishing with incredible scenery/vistas. The Sawtooth mountains are breathtaking.

How is Hwy 21 as far as towing a 30' TT? I wonder how the rivers (spring runoff) will be in late June/early July?

Couple years ago we took 93 from Missoula to Stanley then 21 to Boise.
Towed a 28' 5er with a 12 Ram CTD CC LB. Absolutely gorgeous country.
Loved the Cummins up through there. Very relaxed towing. Not sure it would be a nice with a gasser. Still very doable but you will have to be a little more road centered vs scenery centered. Lots of curves with up and downs.

Idaho State Road 21 is a curvy, winding road in places but I'd think you'd be ok. Take your time and be careful. As far as spring runoff, check online with IDT about current road conditions. As I type this Idaho 21 is closed north of Idaho City due to heavy snow.
