Odetah - Bozrah, CT

We just booked a site for the season at Odetah CG near my work in Connecticut. We toured this place during the off-season, so, no other campers were there to ask questions. The staff was excellent and it looks very nice. The only concern I have, is our site (last one available with 50 amp service) does not have a black water sewer connection. We can dump grey water and they provide us with 15 "honey wagon" pump outs thru the season. I have been told by staff that approximately 90% of the campers using this system never go over the 15 visits. Each additional pump out is a nominal fee ($5 I think) and they run the wagon twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays) - just fill out a request when I want them to come.

I've never used this type of service before; and quite frankly, I tend to camp in places with sewer hook-ups log term. Anyone else camp long-term like this that can share some thoughts/concerns? Boon dockers especially..

This campsite is very nice. I have been there a couple of times. The only thing bad I can say about it is the hills. If the kids like to ride bikes it is not easy. Other wise the place is a good time.

Shin, I can tell you that having the same unit as you and with 5 of us, the 2 black tanks can go a week. Being your FT maybe do a check to see how you normally run for a week to guage it. 15 would get you through 3 months with once a week dump. For another $20 a month that's not too bad IMHO.

One downside would be flushing. How long does the honey wagon allow for this? Especially with two tanks. I like to flush mine once I get to FH sites since I can't do that as much when boondocked.

I tend to try and keep them filling equally so that one is not full before the other. The key is keeping the kids from over flushing. We go through the exercise every time we setup for long haul without services so they know. I tend to let it go more when we are FH.
