The high country in North Georgia sure is loaded down with camping spots. Used to drive from Atlanta up to Gatlinburg via Dahlonega back in my working days and always wanted to spend some time around that part of North Georgia..

I guess Helen GA is another Gatlingburg with bunches of shops and things to spend money in...

Helen GA is a much smaller version of G'burg, scenery is beautiful, good roads, watch out for the motorcycles as it's a very popular destination for bikers with all the curvy roads. Crowds are not as bad, lots of people from Atlanta go there for the weekend/day "just to go to the mountains" for the day.

We have been to the park twice. It is a clean and safe park and the back side overlooks some rolling hills. We did a three day weekend and was able to see most of the area, the little white house and warm springs. There was a lot of construction going on at both sites.

Is this a CG called Pine Mountain, because there is a Pine Mountain GA, close to Newnan, in SW GA. Callaway Gardens is a great family vacation spot, 4 excellent golf courses, beautiful gardens, etc. Not sure they have camping tho.

Pine Mountain RV Resort is one of our favorite places to camp. The campground was completely renovated several years ago. There is an "old" section (under the pines) and a new section built on what was a golf driving range. This section has paved concrete sites, electric, cable, and sewer.

The campground is about a mile or so to the entrance of Callaway Gardens. Be sure to check it out. Fantasy in Lights is now underway at Callaway Gardens. You can drive through the lights in your vehicle or take the trolley.

If you are a history buff, check out FDR's Little White House (Warm Springs, GA) and don't miss Dowdell's Knob where FDR would spend time entertaining friends and spent time "thinking" in the World War II days.

I've spent many a days at Callaway Gardens, family used to go there for vacations but we stayed in the cabins for the most part, and my dad, brother and i would play golf everyday. (Dad's youngest brother was the resident golf pro there). It's a beautiful place.

Norty, FD Roosevelt SP is a very old state park in Georgia. The facilities are showing their age. They have dump stations, but no sewer hook ups. That being said, it is still a beautiful park, and clean, with all kinds of things to see and do in the area as has been mentioned. You have to see the Fantasy In Lights Display in Callaway Gardens during the Christmas season. The Little White House in Warms Springs is also a must see. So much history there. There was a great restaurant in Warm Springs that was a must eat at, however, it burned to the ground a couple years ago and I'm not sure if it has been rebuilt or not.

Went to FDR State Park yesterday morning we got to see America frontier days that was interesting, from there we traveled into the park and went to Dowdells knob, then to warm springs to see the Little White House (that was awesome) we then went into the camp grounds to look around very nice but kinda tight for a novice like me? The fantasy & lights at night was spectacular if you haven't seen it you need to.Going to Calloway gardens today should be fun, talk more later
