Recommendations on Travel books

We are looking at updating our rv travel books. Any recommendations for a good State Park booklet that gives good information on actual camping information not a history lesson. Like most we use RV atlas or Truckers atlas, Casino camping, and Next Exit. Is there anything out there that has everything or do I need to just update each individually and plan away.

I’ve looked at Trip Wizard but I’m undecided because of price. We normally travel a few times during winter, mainly travel May through August. Not sure if the cost of trip wizard is worth it…I’m riding in the fence with this one.

I don't have any favorites - none that I would recommend. The most information available in one spot are the states Welcome Centers on the interstate. They usually have listings for most of the public and private campgrounds in their states.

Ratings and reviews can be misleading.

One source I like is the tourism site maintained by each state. I go online and request the brochures that interest me. I'll do this as early as possible so I can review, plan and reserve as needed. An added benefit is the brochures are free and show up by mail.

My go-to source for general CG info is:

http://campgrounds.rvlife.com

I look for a CG’s with more than 20 reviews (more than 100 is better) and several recent reviews. I review the 1 and 2 star posts to see if there are some common threads (noisy, muddy, unkept . . .) and the 4 and 5 star posts for the same reason. I discount reviews that complain about uncontrollable things (hot, rain, unfriendly neighbors . . .).
