Route 66

Looking for campgrounds along the old Route 66 in AZ.

Anyone know of one?

Plenty of open land for bookdocking if you are interested.

How does one know where and where not to pull over? I know about BLM land.

I've seen several RV parks in the Flagstaff area along Rt 66, but never stayed in one.

Using Google maps I easily saw many along Rt 66 so I'm not sure what you're seeking. Are you looking for a personal recommendation on one of the parks from someone on this site that has stayed in one?

We stayed in a Flagstaff camp ground tent camping close to the town only to find out the major US EAST-WEST RAILROAD goes through there... It was train whistles every 5 minutes or so all day and night...

Bad move on our part haha...

I just got back from Pirates Cove. It's just over the border from Arizona. I camped right out next to the Colorado River and old 66 just behind me. Mom and Dad live just outside of Kingman on old 66. Its a nice meeting area for us. Plus if you into off road stuff there are a lot of trails.

AllStays and Campendium apps both show BLM sites all over that area. We are headed that way next week and have several choices picked out.

We stay at OK RV Park in Holbrook AZ. Older park but the facilities for your stay are great. Utilities good, wifi better than most. Family owned and owners very helpful with any questions.

Bucksin Mountain State Park is very near 66. You can also go online to freecampsites.net and find a boon docking site.
