Running from the Weather - Again?
A couple of months ago we were evicted from the park for tropical storm Debby. Now the forecast is for Isaac to become a category 1 hurricane and hit this area on Tuesday. Since my 4 month commitment will be over in about 2 weeks, I'm not likely to come back after this next evacuation. Twice in one summer is enough.
Unless Isaac changes his tune I'm probably going to hook up and head north to my home base in central Alabama first thing Sunday morning.

I think it is a good idea to get out prior to the storm hitting there. Why stay there if you really don't have to. Be careful..

Ed - it's definitely time to exit, stage left (or right, whichever). I wouldn't wait around to see what Isaac does. No one will fault you for departing while you can.

Duplicate post. Time for a new mouse. My existing one double clicks when it shouldn't.

I notified the park manager this morning that I would be leaving early Sunday morning. I am exiting stage "north" about 250 miles to my home base.
The park manager's response was "I don't blame you
This is two weeks short of completing my 4 month commitment, but he didn't expect me to come back after Isaac for just two weeks. I did come back 2 months ago after the first evacuation this summer for tropical storm Debby.

I'm seeing the reminents of the storm may loop around just south of us here in Virginia before heading out to the Atlantic. Sure hope we get some rain out of it... For you being right on the coast a CAT1 hurricane can do some damage for sure... Bummer you have to leave again...

Roy - sure wish we could send you some of our rain here in Shenandoah Valley - have had rain here just about every day for a while, and can't keep the grass mowed.

Ten inches of rain in just a few hours. A series of T storms parked themselves over the shore, many roads impassable, many without power, some boats sunk, a few small tornadoes spotted. Looks to be finally moving out now. Glad we were not camping this weekend here!

Well even with the early start yesterday (I always wake up terribly early on a travel day) I safely arrived at my home base in central Alabama. I'm glad I left early since one of the other hosts at the park I was in called to say that they are evacuating the park this morning. I'm glad I got out ahead of all of the crowd and traffic.
I first got on I-65 about 40 miles south of Montgomery, AL yesterday afternoon and the northbound traffic was much heavier than southbound. I wonder why? haha
Oh well, how to call the water department and have my water turned back on. Electricity and DSL are always on. Am I glad to be back on the DSL vs the aircard I have been on for 5 months.
