Seneca Lake Area

Good Day All,

I am looking for destination ideas around the upper-half of Seneca Lake in upstate NY on either the east or west coast. I know Watkins Glen is a popular Seneca Lake destination but that puts over an hour from my wife's family up near Brutus and she would like to be closer. Are there any interesting towns along the lake?

If you have campground suggestions know we will need full hook ups as we will be in the area for a couple of weeks and the Mrs. likes her glamping. :-)

Thanks!

When are you thinking of coming this way? Next spring, or summer?

Sampson State Park is on the east shore of Seneca Lake, we've been there many times. There are no FHU sites, but they are electric. A potable water source is there, to fill up your tank. I'm sure there are other private campgrounds around, also, but this one is right on the lake. you can check it out here:

Cayuga Lake State Park's nearer to the town of Brutus, also, but fewer electric sites available.

Cheerful Valley Campground is a very nice campground in Phelps, NY, just Northeast of Seneca Lake, just off the NYS Thruway on NY Route 14.

I have stayed there a few times, nice and quiet and they have 50 amp. service with full hookups.

I missed the FHU request altogether, sorry. I agree with The Meeker on Cheerful Valley Campground. We've been there a few times ourselves, and that would put you 10 or 12 miles to Waterloo. We're fond of site 72.
