St Petersburg Fla
Any suggestions for a good campground near St. Petersburg? We are planning on being there for 13 weeks starting in January.
Thanks

Yes,
KOA's are a little pricy, but it's like McDonalds, I know about what to expect.
Hopefully you'll get some other reco's.
When I was in Florida, there didn't seem to be a whole lot of choices around Ft. Meyers. Hopefully you have more in St. Pete :-)
You might also look for Good Sam Club CG's. They have some standards too.
Best regards,
Doug

Fort De Soto county park, at the south end of St. Petersburg is, by far, the best campground. The Pinellas County website (pinellascounty.org) has all the info you need. The park's North Beach is consistently rated in the top ten by Dr. Beach.
The campsites are well maintained but are definitely natural in appearance. It is family friendly with several nice playgrounds and access to some of the best fishing is right at the end of the campsite in many cases.
Come on down, I believe you will not be disappointed.

Re: St Petersburg Fla
+1 for Fort DeSoto. Stayed there right after Christmas for several nights and loved it. Definitely want to make it an annual trip.

+4 on Ft DeSoto! Camped there several times and loved it. 2 week maximum though. Try Roberts RV Park off Gandy Blvd. Never camped there but it looked nice. Bay Bayou just west of Tampa [just before you cross the Howard Franklin bridge] looked nice too. We spent 7 weeks at Tampa South Resort in Ruskin a couple of years ago and it was very nice, right on the Little Manatee river. It's only 10 minutes to I-275 on the south side of the bay.
