We already pay taxes in this state to run the state parks. In addition, it's $23.00 per day for a sight and $5.00 per day per vehicle. It's hard to increase taxes so they are presented as "user fees" and "up" charges. Those are really starting to get out of hand. Started camping at more COE's.

I remember doing that as a kid back in the 60s when we went to one of the first local major malls. There were no urinals and it was 10 cents to enter the crapper so under the door we went.

If I recall correctly, here in Washington state, we are already dinged on registration fees for having any RV to pay for dump stations. However, when we renew any license, there is a box to check to donate $5 to the state parks. Sorry, I give enough at $40 a night and expect to dump my crap for free.

Not that I needed another reason, but I'll add it to the list of why I won't go back to CA...

The state of California has PLENTY of money and doesn't need to gouge its tax paying citizens with yet another fee. California doesn't need to generate more money, they need to be more fiscally conservative with the money they already have.

It will. California stopped being part of the country years ago. Just wait till they ban combustible engines then what, everybody goin to pull their RV'S with a smart car or tax to death everybody with a truck. They are workin on it, should see a vote soon

There are plenty of great western states that I can visit & just scratch California off the list. No problem, let them cook themselves in their overtaxed regulations. Bye, bye Cali.

Actually, they have added the 5$ donation into the bill and you have to "opt out" to not pay it. They are banking on ignorance to sneak this additional revenue stream into play.

Rediculous!! Camping fees have been rising and its not uncommon to pay upward to $30 per nite. Having a dump station is kind of part of the process and should be included in the site fee. Whats next, pay showers and pay toilets? When state parks go to private vendors, the state has a contract that is pretty specific as to their ability to add special fees. If they don't then your state is selling the taxpayers down the river.

Several years ago, we started pulling out of the CG on the final am and bypassing the onsite dump station if there is a line. We pretty much have converted to using dump stations at interstate rest areas and have never had a problem with cleanliness or a line.

We use the bath houses at stste parks as much as possible to keep from filling our black tank. So far, we dont have to pay to empty the black tanks, but if there is a long line, I use Camping World (free pumpout) or I just take it home, hook up my macerator pump and run a hose to the sewer cleanout.

That's good ol' JERRY BROWN in Kalifornia. He and his Dumbocrats will squeeze every penny out of the Recreational world that they can.

someone will figure a way to string together 6 smartcars [think stage coach] and hook them up to pull a TT.

I have a private well and private septic system at my house. The septic has a run off system with a 5000 gal tank every 3 years the law requires that I get a honey wagon to drain the tank.

I pay $200 for that service. I’m not the state with zero buying power so I’m sure I pay more than campgrounds. Let’s use the same formula for this illustration. 10,000 tank at campgrounds. Let’s say the average RV black and gray tank at 60 gals. Simple math is 10000 divided by 167 pump outs , pump 10,000 gal tank at $400 cost to honey wagon per RV $2.39 by charge of $20 per RV would mean the state has a profit of 836 percent.

Now you see why other states will look into doing this everywhere.
