As long as 'Ol Man Winter cooperates, I usually have at least one snowmobile trip to Canada with the guys, and if "life" cooperates, another trip with the family.
Neither my in-laws or the guy that does all the grocery shopping have never had an issue (knock on wood). Bulk hamburger, steaks, roast, even a split roast/pork loin the last trip, whole potatoes, large box of bacon, bulk sausage, etc. Any vegetables are canned, and I'm not sure we know what fruit is on the guys trip!!! My in-laws may take some fruit, can't recall what if so.
Big thing coming back into the US is to say either garbage or trash, but don't recall which is correct. I think it's trash if asked. We bring trash back because the cabin is in the bush where there isn't any garbage p/u!!!
Side note as you probably already know: Make sure you have a passport or enhanced drivers license (if available in your state!) for crossing back into the US. Going over isn't bad without one, by coming back is a whole another story!!!
Safe travels!!!
