Tennessee Parks?

Wife & I are getting our new 5'er this year. We'd like to meet our youngest daughter & son-in-law 1/2 and do another 2-week camping trip. We prefer the quitter places, with lots of tree and sites that have some room to them. Back in 2014 we meet at Brookville Lake in Indianan. Spent 2 week together, never used the cell phone, the wife & I Never touched our PC’s (it’s a big deal because we both are in IT).

Best camping trip EVER. Now we want to do this again this year. We are thinking of Tennessee because it’s about ½ way. Kids live in Wyoming, we live in Mass, near Cape Cod. They both are Military Cops, (going on 5 ½ years & both at SSGT) so we don’t get to see them as much as we like. So that’s why these kinds of camping trips mean so much to us both. Just spending time with our Daughter & Son-in-law, we have the Best Time together. They both are such fine young, respectable people, we enjoy them immensely. So, any suggestion would be appreciated.

We don’t really have any planned dates yet, but are thinking of around April 17th-May 15th some time. We both would be leaving probably on a Friday night and arrive at the camp site on Sunday. Stay 12 nights and head-home on Friday.

Thanks,
Dave...

Falls creek State Park. Lots of cool scenery and hiking and you get almost no cell service so no cell phone (depending on where you are in the park).

Just make sure you go in the main entrance, the back way is more than a little tight.

Tennessee also has a good many nice COE (Corps of Engineers) parks that you may like.

Take a few minutes and do a search for Bumpus Mills COE near Dover Tennessee.

We were there last May it is a beautiful campground on Lake Barkley close to the Kentucky border.

I highly recommend this campground! Nice lake with a swimming beach and nice clean bathrooms.

It is a small campground so better reserve early!

We spent several days at "Tom Sawyer CG" in West Memphis a couple of years ago. It's actually in Arkansas but is just across the Mississippi from "the" Memphis. The CG is on the river side of the levee so it floods on occasion. There are some trees and the park was clean and well kept when we visited.

Sounds like we have similar trips planned this year - we're not far from the Cape, and will be in TN for two weeks over Memorial Day weekend. Seven Points COE park near Nashville got good reviews and we'll be there for a few days during our trip.

Thank you to your kids for their service to our great country!

Thanks everyone for your recommendations. I didn't realized that Tennessee is a little too far for the kids to drive. So now I'm looking at Cape Fair campground in Missouri. Its a lot father for us to drive vs the kids, but I'm ok with that. I'm also looking into sites in Illinois too. To help expand our options, I'm considering sites that only have Power & Water (no sewer) but they need to be Pet Friendly as well.

Thanks,
Dave...

I'd drive right past my state of Illinois(the financial crisis in our state does not help our state's parks)nd head to Missouri, catch a baseball game at Busch stadium, it's beautiful with the baseball village that opened up a couple of years ago.
