the travel trailer driver training i never wanted
So we went to Bill Monroes Music Park and Campground this weekend for the brews, blues and bbq festival and couldn't get there until Friday evening because of work. We pulled in to the campground in the pouring rain and were told our site was number 16 which I knew. The campground has gravel one lane so called roads to the campsites and the sites themselves are grass with gravel underneath I think. But my site was taken by a 45 foot motorhome and this left me to turn around, a 3 point turn in wet grass to get back to the office. She then told me to try site 132 which led me through a maze of gravel roads looking more like rivers than roads, filled with golfcarts full of less than sober people blocking my way to the 2nd site that was taken by golfcarts, cars and other stuff. Now having to navigate back through the muddy mess of roads back to the front missing trucks and cars by literally inches I was told I could park in the owners front yard which was also grass. I had to back in to the yard with the truck in 4 wheel drive and finally got parked thank God with no damage or dead bodies left in my wake. All my fears of tight spots realized I am thankful we got parked and the weekend was great.

Good grief! You deserve a medal! I am fearful of that happening to me one day.

Well I knew it would be a challenge with all the people who come in for the blues concerts that aren't camping and the pouring rain made it a lot worse as I couldn't hardly see either lol

That's right about where my DW starts throwing out smart comments driving the already high pressure situation through the roof...

I did that last year, made a wrong turn at a provincial park with my 34' trailer, barely made it out without losing the roof.
I always check the park map now!

My wife was very supportive and calm through the whole thing and even offered to get out in the pouring rain and try to get the drunk golf cart drivers to move so I could drive forward lol..... on a brighter note the guy across from where we finally parked came out and gave me a few jello shots to help me calm down

Did you have cell signal? I would have just called the office and suggested they send someone out to clear that 2nd site.

My only experience in a place like that was a few years ago when we camped at "Bob's" for the Bristol night race. For the uninitiated, Bobs is famous for roudy loud and ???able behavior during this Nascar weekend. Don't know the totals but there are countless rvs scattered in a loosely laid out pattern over several acres of basically pasture land. Sites are small, primitive, and not well defined like you would expect in a campground. It is a place that I would never show up late and for sure would never arrive after dark.
Once was enough and there is nothing that would attract us to a place like that again, country music, blues, bluegrass or people passing out $100 bills. You are very lucky you didn't damage your TT.

Google Maps took me down a one lane dirt road that dead ended into an abandoned silver mine shaft a couple weekends ago. It was supposed to be the dump station. Had to go in reverse for over a mile to get to a spot where it took me a half hour again to turn around. I need a drone or something that I can dispatch out ahead of us.
