Traveling with Dogs

We travel in a small class C motorhome, without a towing vehicle. There are times when we need to leave our two dogs in the RV. We close blinds and open windows. Has anyone tried battery powered fans or air conditioners? We are worried about them getting too hot.

Thanks.

Nothing that'll keep them cool enough. Fans just move hot air around and room AC's are electric. Generator running a portable AC unit may work.

The reason we RV has much to do with our pets. With a new Class C motor home my generator would shut down thus the ac would turn off. Fortunately I did not trust new equipment and would periodically go back to check on the dogs. Glad the dogs were fine but with this in mind I have been looking for ways to venture out yet make sure my dogs are going to be ok. Something to think about and do look forward to any thoughts.

Awesome to travel with dogs. It is a commitment. I do want to suggest an alternate view, you do not have to choose to leave the dogs in the RV. Since we chose to travel with our dog we believe it is our responsibility to keep the dog safe. Therefore, we never leave the dog alone in the RV. At National Parks, one of us stays while the other hikes and then we trade off. We won't eat out at a place where the dog can't go. It is challenging at times, but with all the stories about dying pets, kids, and thefts we choose to never leave the dog alone.
